Moving Tips for Students Coming to Dehradun: College Packing, PG Relocation, and Campus Logistics (2026)
Master student relocation guide for Dehradun universities: UPES, Graphic Era, DIT, IMS Unison, and FRI. Budget packing, shared mini-trucks, PG vs flat costs, and campus survival.
Students moving to Dehradun colleges (UPES, Graphic Era, DIT University, IMS Unison, Tula's) should pack lightweight (under 30–40 kg) in 2 heavy-duty suitcases and 2 standard cardboard cartons, prioritizing thermal winter woolens, laptop/study gear, and rainproof apparel. To save money, avoid booking full-sized moving trucks—use Simple Magic's Shared Student PTL Cargo Service or local mini-trucks (Tata Ace/Chota Hathi) starting at just ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 for local campus moves. Coordinate moves with hostel roommates to split transport costs, and verify whether your PG includes bedding and study furniture before buying.
Welcome to Dehradun: India’s Premier Higher Education Capital
Every July and August, over 40,000 new students arrive in Dehradun from across India and abroad to pursue engineering, law, management, design, and forestry degrees. With prestigious institutions like Graphic Era University (Clement Town), DIT University and IMS Unison (Malsi / Mussoorie Diversion), and UPES (Bidholi & Kandoli campuses), the Doon Valley is a vibrant student sanctuary.
However, navigating student shifting—whether moving into a college hostel, renting a Paying Guest (PG) accommodation, or sharing a 2BHK flat with batchmates—can quickly lead to overspending if you rely on unverified street tempo drivers or buy unnecessary furniture.
At Simple Magic Packers and Movers, operating our logistics depot from Transport Nagar (PIN 248002) and our campus support desk near Old Rajpur Road (PIN 248009), we offer student-friendly pocket pricing and micro-shipping services. Here is your definitive campus relocation guide.

How to Move Without Burning Your Monthly Pocket Money
Use Simple Magic Student Mini-Truck Service
Moving from a 1st-year hostel in Premnagar to an independent flat in Sudhowala or Clement Town? Do not hire an expensive 14-foot truck. Simple Magic provides dedicated Tata Ace (Chota Hathi) vehicles with 2 helpers starting at flat, transparent student rates (₹1,500 – ₹2,500).
Group Consolidation with Batchmates
When relocating from Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, or Jaipur to Dehradun for the new academic semester, coordinate with 2 or 3 college friends from your hometown. Consolidating 10–12 total cartons into our shared container truck drops individual shipping costs to under ₹1,200 per student.
Rent Furnished PGs Instead of Buying Bulky Furniture
Avoid purchasing heavy wooden beds, study tables, or steel almirahs that you will have to sell at a 70% loss upon graduating. Most verified PGs near UPES Bidholi and Graphic Era Clement Town come fully furnished with box beds, study desks, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
